| Spanish inheritance laws prevent property owners from leaving their property to whoever they wish and they must leave two thirds of it to their children - and in these times of changing family structures this may not be appropriate for our British clients. |
| However, Spanish law allows any foreign property owner ( even if they are a resident ) to abide by the law of their own country. In other words as British law allows anyone to leave their assets to whoever they please Spanish law will allow a British citizen to do the same as long as they have made a Spanish will. |
| To make a will is a relatively simple process. We ask you to complete a form providing us with all the information needed. The will is then prepared in Spanish with an English translation. However, where it differs from the United Kingdom is that the will has to be signed before a notary. |
